Health Frontiers' Muang Sing Outreach
Please visit our website www.butterflychildren.org for information about our humanitarian work. In December of 2010 we recruited noma patients from all over Laos by distributing 15,000 posters by mail, by giving them to bus drivers, and even by giving them to boat drivers in order to reach the furthest areas. Patients that came to Vientiane for surgery were helped by a maxi facial surgical team from the Netherlands.
We have official approval from the Lao Government to "Begin a pilot project in Muang Sing for health and childhood development and education." It's amazing to think this began with a young girl we didn't know handing us $20 and telling us that "this is the Lao Children."
There are so many needs in our village and surrounding villages that make us feel compelled to help. Our work in Vientiane with Health Frontiers has brought us contacts and friendships in the hospitals and in the community. We network with Lao doctors and foreign doctors who come here to assist. We cooperate with the Women's International Group (WIG) medical welfare committee. They meet the patients upon arrival at the bus station, take them to the hospital, and help them to receive medical care before sending them back home. Medical Relationships: Hospitals and doctors, foreign specialists, WIG, Lao people along the way.
In the past, The Tom Dooley Foundation has provided us with a generous grant to help with medical and educational expenses. Dr. Tom Dooley lived and worked in Muang Sing about 50 years ago. His old clinic is only a couple of kilometers from our home. We know people whom he has helped. http://www.dooleyintermed.org.
We are living from our savings and do not use any part of this fund for personal expenses.

Purchase a print
You could help by purchasing a 11" x 14" print from this website. Your order will be printed and mailed directly to you from a professional lab. The printing costs and website sales commission add up to just about $40. This leaves a profit of about $210 that will be deposited directly to Health Frontiers.
There is no tax-deduction for this. Instead, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a print and know that you were able to help these children.
